ANNE DONALDSON

CEO

Ms Donaldson has over 12 years experience in commercialisation of intellectual property and early-stage technologies, having worked across the industry-research interface in a number of capacities.

As Commercialisation Manager for the University of East Anglia (Norwich, UK), Ms Donaldson managed technologies across disciplines including biotechnology, medical technology, nanotechnology and computer sciences. Ms Donaldson was instrumental in spin-out companies including Imsense (sold to Apple Inc), Intelligent Fingerprinting, and Spectral Edge.

Ms Donaldson is also a corporate, commercial and intellectual property lawyer, practising until recently with boutique Melbourne firm FAL Lawyers. Ms Donaldson has strength of experience across all aspects of commercial intellectual property (including R&D, licensing, manufacture and distribution) and corporate structuring, with particular experience in multi-party ventures. Ms Donaldson also has expertise in corporate governance, grant funding, charitable and deductable gift recipient status, defence export controls, and general commercial contracts. Ms Donaldson commenced practice at the top-tier commercial firm now called Allens Linklaters.

Ms Donaldson previously worked in Johannesburg, RSA, where she started up and ran the South African arm of an international legal recruitment agency. Ms Donaldson ran large-scale campaigns and placed lawyers from South Africa, Australia and Canada into top-tier firms (including Clifford Chance and White & Case) in the UK, US, Middle East and Asia.

Ms Donaldson holds a Bachelor of Laws with Honours, an Honours Degree in Health Sciences (Honours in Obstetrics and Gynaecology) and a Graduate Certificate in Commercialisation of Science and Technology from the University of Adelaide.



Geoff Swanson

Director / Advisor

Mr Swanson has worked in science and technology for over 50 years starting as a cadet chemist at Australian Consolidated Industries Ltd in Sydney while studying applied chemistry at the University of New South Wales. After a short stint with Cynamid DHA and veterinary chemicals he worked for 5 years with Varian Australia in Sales Management for Gas and Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry products. The next 5 years Mr Swanson worked for Varian Techtron in the positions of Product Line Marketing Manager and Export Marketing Manager with international responsibilities for product line development and marketing of Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy products.

In 1974 he founded Analytical Reference Laboratories (ARL) which he developed and managed for 28 years. ARL provided specialized medical diagnostic services to Hospitals and Private Pathology practices throughout Australia. ARL was sold in 2002 to private operators and in 2005 Mr Swanson established Haplomic Technologies Pty Ltd with Immunogeneticist, Dr Malcolm Simons.

Mr Swanson was a non-executive Director for 18 years in the public listed company Joyce Corporation Ltd and is a Member of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute and the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists.



Dr Brian Tait, BSc, MSc, PhD, FRCPath (UK), FFSc (RCPA)

Scientific Advisor  --  Honourary

Subsequent to the sad passing of Dr Malcolm Simons on January 25th 2012 Dr Brian Tait has assumed the role of Scientific Advisor to Haplomic Technologies Pty Ltd.

Dr Tait has worked in the field of histocompatibility genetics and its application in clinical transplantation for over 35 years. As Director of the Tissue Typing laboratory located at the Royal Melbourne Hospital from 1975-1999) and co-director of the merged Victorian Transplantation and Immunogenetic  Service in Melbourne (1999-2008) he directed a busy HLA matching laboratory programme which provides a service to all the solid organ and haematopoietic stem cell (HSC) transplant units in Victoria and Tasmania, including six major renal transplant centres, the  heart and lung transplant unit at the Alfred Hospital, the Liver Transplant unit located at the Austin Hospital and several units providing an HSC transplant service.

In addition to his interest in the genetics of transplantation Dr Tait has shared a lifelong interest with Dr Simons in disease genetics, a collaboration which extends back to 1975. His role as scientific advisor will help ensure that Dr Simon’s scientific ideas will continue to be at the forefront of Haplomic Technologies’ business ventures.

Dr Tait is the author and co-author of over 250 scientific papers and the co-author and editor of several books. He has recently compiled and edited a book entitled “More than a footnote” which is the story of the history of solid organ transplantation in Australia and New Zealand.
